Welcome to
Quiet Earth Photography

My name is Ken Bland, and photography has been part of my life since I was a young boy. I first discovered my love for it while earning my photography badge in Scouts — an experience that sparked a lifelong fascination with cameras and the art of seeing. That early interest led me to study photography as part of an Audio Visual Design course at Cartrefle College and later at Portsmouth College of Art and Design. Photography would go on to play an important role in my career in Graphic Design, where composition, balance, and visual storytelling became central to my work.

Quiet Earth Photography is rooted in a deep connection to the landscape — not simply as a place to visit, but as a place to walk, to wait, and to truly see. Each image begins long before the shutter is pressed. It begins on the trail, hiking through changing light and weather, exploring moorland, woodland, coastline and high ground in search of stillness, structure and form.

Working in a fine art style, these photographs are created with patience and intention. Composition, balance and atmosphere lie at the heart of every frame. Rather than chasing spectacle, the focus is on subtlety — the quiet interplay of light and shadow, the shape of the land, and the rhythm of water and trees. The aim is not simply to document a place, but to interpret it.

Much of this journey is shared with my working Cocker Spaniel, Toby — a constant and joyful companion on countless miles of countryside and coast. While I pause to study light and line, he embraces the simple pleasure of movement and exploration. His energy and curiosity are a gentle reminder that the landscape is not just something to photograph, but something to experience.

Quiet Earth Photography is an invitation to slow down and look more closely — to find stillness in the landscape and rediscover the quiet beauty that reveals itself when we take the time to truly see.
